Molybdenum Vanadium Stainless Steel

Molybdenum Vanadium steel, as the name suggests, is stainless tool steel enriched with molybdenum (Mo) and vanadium (V). Molybdenum ensures that the steel retains its hardness and strength even when exposed to elevated temperatures during the hardening process. Vanadium, on the other hand, prevents the steel from becoming too soft during the tempering process, enhancing its toughness and resilience.

This composition results in a material with significantly improved wear resistance and toughness. Because molybdenum minimises the effects of temperature on the steel's hardness and strength, and offers increased resistance to rust, it is also a preferred material for medical scalpel blades.

Its rust resistance combined with sustained sharpness makes this steel not only ideal for household usage but also a popular choice for professional kitchen knives.
